What is sustainable plantation and recycled paper?

Recycled notepad and desktop paper is an easy concept to undertand — the paper has been used previously. It might be that the paper has been gathered from consumers (e.g.: from the wheelie bins outside houses) or has been gathered from commercial printers (e.g.: the off-cuts that are created when printing jobs are trimmed to size).
What then happens when the used paper has been gathered together is just as simple to undertsand: the used paper is turned into a pulp, any ink is removed from the pulp, and then that pulp is used to create a clean recycled paper.

We use either 100% recycled paper all of our notepads and desktop pads, or we use 100% sustainable plantation paper. We can use 100% recycled paper on notepads and desktop pads because notepad and desktop pad paper does not need to be polished. Also, the recycled paper that the manufacturer produces uses recycled pulp that comes from paper that has not been recycled previously, or has been recycled only once or twice.

Sustainable plantation paper is paper that is grown from plantations, and those plantations adhere to strict environmental standards, such as conserving water and not using pesticides.
