Set quantities
Our discount priced postcards are offered in set quantities. Those set quantities are: 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, and so on and so on.
There is a very good reason why we have set quantities — it reduces our costs, so it reduces the prices that we charge:
- We print on huge B1-sized presses — B1 is about ten times the size of a standard A4-sized letterhead.
- We gather lots of different jobs onto the one print run so that the cost of the printing plates can be shared between many different jobs — your postcard wil take up only one small corner of the press run.
- Given we gather (or 'gang') many jobs onto the one print run, we MUST have some standardised quantities (e.g.: 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, and so on and so on).
If you want to know more about 'gang printing', then visit our gang printing page.
Fridge magnet on cards
You can, if you wish, have a fridge magnet placed upon the back of your postcard. The fridge magnets are 40mm x 20mm, and are placed on one side of the postcard.
Holes drilled into postcards
You may have a 5mm hole drilled in your offset printed postcard. The 5mm hole is placed at the short edge of the postcard, and the 5mm hole is placed either:
- 5mm from the corner (and you can choose which corner); or
- 5mm from the edge, at the centre of the short edge of the postcard.
Recycled paper and sustainable plantation paper
Your discount priced postcards can be printed on either 310gsm sustainable plantation Satin Art Board paper or 350gsm 55% recycled business card paper. These are sturdy stocks, and they help the environment too.
Check out our:

- Jumbo A5 postcard prices — offset printed on 55% recycled paper.
Multiple designs
You can order up to ten different designs with each online postcard printing order, but all postcards must be ordered in equal quantities. For instance, you may order 1,000 cards of each of three different designs, for a total order of 3,000 discount priced postcards, but you cannot order 3,000 discount priced postcards and request 1,000 of one design and 2,000 of another design.
As regards your file, you can choose to either:
- Upload a different file for each job — a maximum of ten files can be uploaded when you place your order; or
-
Create one large file that contains all the designs, and upload that one file — if you choose this option, then:
- Page 1 should be the front of the first postcard and page 2 should be the back of the first postcard;
- Page 3 should be the front of the second postcard, page 4 should be the back of the second postcard;
- Page 5 should be the front of the third postcard, page 6 should be the back of the third postcard;
- and so on and so on.
Gloss celloglaze coating
Discount priced postcards may be gloss celloglazed on one side only. Celloglazing is, in fact, a laminate, and that laminate has two effects:
- Gloss celloglazing makes the colours richer, and this makes your full colour discount priced postcard 'stand out' from the other postcards.
- Gloss celloglazed postcards are more durable, so their 'self-life' is longer
If you choose to have a celloglazed postcard, then it is more than likely that it will be eight (8) days before the postcard is dispatched — the celloglazing is an involved task, and we cannot rush it. Also, not many people request celloglazing, so we need to wait about a week or so before we have enough jobs to 'gang' together on the one print run.
If, however, you choose to NOT have any celloglzing, then there is a good chance that your job will be dispatched faster — perhaps as quick as five days.
Discount priced postcards
The greatest advantage of our discount-priced postcards is the price.
The reason we can offer our discount priced postcards at such a cheap prices is that we 'gang' 40 to 50 different postcard jobs onto the one series of printing plates (i.e.: four different coloured plates for the front of the cards, and four different coloured plates for the back of the cards). This means the cost of preparing the plates is distributed between those 40 to 50 different postcard jobs. We then print out all those jobs onto paper in standardized quantities (e.g.: 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, etc), and cut those sheets into the 40 or 50 different job lots.
Proofs
You may request an online proof when you submit your own file and order discount priced full colour printing. Hard-copy proofs are not available for our discount priced products; nor are hard-copy proofs are not available if you use our free online design service.
If you do not know what a proof is, then have a visit to our proof information page.
Files we accept
You can use your own designs that you have created on your own Apple-Mac or PC with your own software — see the printing files we accept.
If you want your job to proceed with the lowest chance of anything going wrong, then you should consider the following (and read the relevant pages too).
- Convert all text to outlines — we might not be licenced to use the fonts that you have used (even if they are embedded), but if you outline all the text, then this problem is completely solved.
- If you have any background colours or images that are going to print to the very edge of the page, then you MUST have bleeds. You will want to read our bleeds page.
-
If you want to provide us with a PDF, then that is great; however:
- DO, by all means, feel free to place crop marks on the page;
- DO, by all means, have the bleed shown on the page;
- DO NOT place any other printer's marks onto the PDF — NO registration marks, NO colour bars, NO name of the file.
