Below are two images that should assist you in understanding the envelope sizes that TheOnlinePrinter uses when printing its envelopes.

The lefthand image shows the "A" sizes, with A4 being the size of a standard A4 business letter. The righthand image shows the "C" sizes — these are the standard envelope sizes.
As regards the "C" sizes, you will see that a given size (e.g.: C4) is half the size of the one immediately larger than it (C3), and twice the size of the one immediately smaller than it (C5).

The standard envelope sizes are:

  • C1 — 917mm x 648mm.
  • C2 — 648mm x 458mm.
  • C3 — 458mm x 324mm.
  • C4 — 324mm x 229mm — slightly larger than A4, and able to accommodate unfolded A4 sheets.
  • C5 — 229mm x 162mm — a bit more than half the size of A4, and able to accommodate A4 sheets that have been folded in half.
  • C6 — 162mm x 114mm.
  • C7 — 114mm x 81mm.
  • DLX — 220mm x 110mm — a bit more than one-third the size of A4, and able to accommodate A4 sheets that have been folded into thirds.

The largest envelope that TheOnlinePrinter prints is the C4 envelope, and the smallest envelope we print in the ISO 216 standard sizes is the DLX.

We have a dedicated page with C4, C5 and DLX envelope printing information.
