Wrapping text around an image in Illustrator is easy.

Below is a screen shot of part of an A4 page that has text on it.

Place you image on the file. The screen shot below has the image in the top left of the Illustrator file.

If you look closely, you will notice that the text continues behind the image on the Illustrator file, and this means the text cannot be read. Quite clearly, we want the text to wrap aound the image on this illistrator file.

Next, you must select the two objects that are to be wrapped. This is quite simple.

  • Click your mouse on the image that will have text text wrapped aound it; then
  • Hold down the "Shift" key on your keyboard; and
  • Click your mouse on the text that you want to wrap around the image.

Both the image and the text should be highlighted with blue lines (this can be seen in the below screen shot).

You then choose: Object > Text Wrap > Make (see the above screen shot).

The text will then wrap around the image. This is what has happened in the below screen shot of our A4 Illustrator file. The text is about 5mm from the image.

If you want to move the image, then you can, and the text-wrapping on the Illustrator file will be reconfigured. Compare the text wrap on the above image with the text wrapping on the below image. What you will notice is that the image has been moved on the Illustrator file, and the text-wrapping has automatically been adjusted.
