Enviro-friendly paper
Our purchases only comes from environmentally accredited suppliers who conform to stringent environmental standards such as the European Union’s Eco Management and Audit Scheme.
The paper we use to print jobs is manufactured using a chlorine free process, and is either:
- 100% recycled paper;
- Blended paper (a mixture of recycled and sustainable plantation paper — the mix is usually 55% recycled and 45% sustaimable plantation); or
- 100% sustainable plantation paper (which is wood grown in sustainable plantations, and those plantations adhere to strict environmental standards, such as conserving water and refraining from using pesticides).
We use less paper
We have developed proceedures to reduce (and even eliminate) wasted paper. For example:
- Presses use paper at the start of a print-run to make sure that inks are in balance, and the plates are correctly aligned. Many printers throw away all the paper that is used from those pre-print-runs. TheOnlinePrinter, however tries to use some of that pre-print-run paper a second time. Simply put; many jobs are single-sided print jobs, so TheOnline Printer saves the single-sided pre-print-run paper and uses it a second time on future pre-print-runs.
- Our digital presses need only two or four sheets to ensure the toners (i.e.: dry, powdered ink) are correctly balanced and the job is correctly aligned on the sheet, and we attempt to print many of our smaller runs on digital presses.
We recycle where we can
Our business creates up to two wheelie-bins of pure waste per week.
All other surplus matter (e.g. paper, cardboard, bottles, wire and other metals, and plastics) is recycled for further use.
